If you want to achieve something, you should first set goals. Goals motivate you and show the direction to help you achieve your target. 

Though goal setting has many advantages, it’s only effective when your goals are realistic. If your goals are unrealistic, there’s no point in setting them.

I have set realistic goals. But, how to achieve them?

1. Keep motivating yourself

The journey to success is a big one. In between your journey, you’ll experience many successes and failures. 

However, even if you go through tough times, you should keep yourself motivated, and you shouldn’t give up your end goal. 

Ok. 

It’s normal for humans to lose their motivation as days pass by. You may feel like procrastinating. You may feel like giving up. 

But, if you want to succeed, you should leave back the negative thoughts and continue your success journey. 

If you fall prey to your negative thoughts, they will take over you eventually. So, you shouldn’t let this happen!

2. Write down your goals

You may have heard many successful people say that you should write your goals and stick them in a place where you’ll notice. 

This technique may sound weird to many, but trust me, this strategy works and helps achieve your goals. 

Here’s how. 

As humans, we like to procrastinate our tasks. Do you agree with me? 

If you stick your goals to a place that you frequently see, you’ll get motivated to complete your tasks even if you have the urge to procrastinate. 

By writing down your goals, you’re also increasing your desire to achieve them.

3. Break down your goals

When you set your goals, it’s always better to break them into subgoals. 

Generally, the motivation to achieve a goal will decrease over time. But, if you break down your primary goal into subgoals, your motivation level won’t decrease much. 

Also, if you break down your goals, you can reward yourself each time you accomplish your subgoal. This motivates and helps you dedicate yourself to achieving your primary target.

4. Visualize that you have achieved your goal

Visualization can help you achieve your goals. It makes you ready for what you want to happen. 

So, if you frequently visualize yourself having achieved your goals, your desire to achieve them will become strong. If you put in the required efforts, you’ll eventually achieve your goals. 

Research using brain imagery proves that visualization will make the brain generate an impulse that says our neurons to perform the “movement”. In your case, the “movement” is to achieve your goals.

5. Track your progress

If you want to achieve your goals, you should track your progress frequently. 

Tracking your progress has many advantages. It motivates you and helps you correct your previous mistakes. 

You can track your progress either on a daily or weekly basis — depending on your convenience. However, I suggest you track your progress daily because it helps you plan accordingly for the next day. 

Depending on your progress, you can create a to-do list for the next day.
